About Our Senior Pastor
Rev. Dr. Henry K. Pillai is well-known in Malaysia as a Christian spiritual leader and an altruistic philanthropist who has made a lasting and positive impact on the lives of many people.
A man of big heart and soul, he has touched many with his message of faith and God¡’s love. He began ministering in 1972, at the age of 26 years in a modest church named Grace Assembly Klang. Fueled by the Great Commission to travel all around the world and preach the gospel to all creatures, the church grew steadily and developed a distinct apostolic-prophetic calling. Through his unwavering vision for the lost, Grace Assembly has been instrumental in planting more than 1,500 churches all over the world.
At the core of the church’s growth and influence is Rev. Dr. Henry’s passion and lifelong dedication to reach the unreached, preach the gospel to those who have never heard the gospel before, and to plant churches where there are no churches. A firm believer that one should never “boast about work already done in another man’s territory” (2 Cor. 10:16), his ministry is marked by the mandate to go where others do not want to go, to do what others are not doing, and to not disturb another man’s foundation or infringe upon another’s sphere of labour (2 Cor. 10:15-16). All these reaffirm the commandment to not covet or steal (Deut 5:19:21), another man’s sheep.
A humanitarian at heart, he founded Grace Community Services (GCS) in 1990. A non-profit organization, with many charities under its umbrella, GCS¡’s multi-facetted scope literally serves the needs of the community from the womb to old age. Birthright is a sanctuary for unwed mothers, providing counseling as well as legal advice. Rumah K.I.D.S. provides homes for orphaned, abused, and neglected children who find love and protection in a caring environment. Turning Point houses juvenile delinquents and gives them a second chance to turn their lives around. Grace Home is a home for women, left destitute and homeless in their old age. Always concerned about the education and well-being of the future generation in this nation, he also contributes his time and expertise to the Petaling Jaya Homeschooling Association as its chairman. He sees home-schooling as an effective alternative that addresses some of the unfavorable learning conditions in conventional schools such as overcrowded classrooms, an emphasis on passing examinations, and the lack of critical thinking skills in students. He believes that home-schooling exerts less pressure on the students as the syllabus is tailored to the individual student¡’s abilities. It also encourages critical thinking and reduces peer pressure. He hopes to introduce the concept of home-schooling to many more parents in Malaysia who are seeking an alternative and more effective method of teaching and learning for their children.
In addition, Rev. Dr. Henry is also the current Chancellor of the Alpha Omega International College (AOIC), an ATA-accredited Bible college located in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The AOIC seeks to provide men and women with a sound theological education and ministerial training to equip them in becoming responsible and effective Christian leaders.
Rev. Dr. Henry also founded Sportsalvation Sdn. Bhd., a unique endeavor that uses sports to build young lives. As the chairman of Sportsalvation, he spearheads revolutionary initiatives in Malaysia such as the Brazil Football Centre. The Brazil Football Centre in collaboration with the Brazil Sports Network offers promising young talents the opportunity to hone their football-playing skills under the guidance of world-class football coaches. Promising young talents are offered an opportunity to travel to Brazil to train alongside the Brazilian football team. This initiative not only unearths new talents for the sports arena in our country, it also encourages young adults to develop team spirit and foster harmony amongst teenagers beyond the boundaries of race and religion.
